Our therapists provide compassionate care and effective strategies to help women cope with and overcome their depression and anxiety disorders.
When to seek support
Everyone has difficult days. When low mood, worry or fear persist for weeks and start to affect sleep, relationships, work or daily routines, it may be time to speak to a professional. Some signs women describe include:
- Feeling persistently sad, empty or hopeless
- Losing interest in things that used to matter
- Constant worry, restlessness or feeling on edge
- Panic, a racing heart or difficulty breathing in stressful moments
- Changes in sleep and appetite, or ongoing tiredness
- Using alcohol, medication or other substances to cope
These signs are not a diagnosis. An assessment with a qualified professional is the right way to understand what is happening.
How TNI approaches treatment
TNI’s published approach to anxiety and depression combines psychotherapy, medication where needed, and holistic care. In practice this can include:
- Assessment, including review by the consultant psychiatrist where appropriate
- One-to-one therapy with a psychologist, including CBT
- Practical tools for managing stress and worry, such as mindfulness
- Family sessions to help loved ones understand and support recovery
Depression, anxiety and substance use
Depression and anxiety often occur alongside substance use, and each can make the other harder to treat. TNI publishes dual diagnosis treatment, in which both are addressed together.
If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, please contact local emergency services or go to the nearest hospital emergency department now.
