Fitness & wellness

Physical wellbeing supports emotional recovery. Gentle activity, routine, rest and nourishment help the body and mind recover together.

Why physical wellbeing matters

Addiction and long periods of stress take a toll on the body — sleep, appetite, energy and fitness often suffer. As treatment progresses, rebuilding healthy daily habits can lift mood, reduce stress and make it easier to engage in therapy.

Elements of wellness in recovery

  • Movement: activity suited to each woman’s health and fitness
  • Routine: regular times for waking, meals, sessions and rest
  • Sleep: habits that support better rest during and after detox
  • Nourishment: regular, balanced meals as appetite returns
  • Relaxation: practices such as mindfulness to manage stress

A holistic approach

TNI describes its approach as combining evidence-based therapies with holistic wellness. Wellness activities are not a replacement for clinical treatment; they sit alongside counselling, psychiatric care and family support as part of an individual plan.

The clinical team will consider each woman’s physical health before recommending activity, particularly in the early days of detox.

Do I need to be fit to take part?

No. Any activity is adapted to the individual and introduced gradually.
